Club History
The Central Iowa Model A Ford Club was founded in 1961 by a group of Model A owners interested in promoting their hobby.
The first meeting was held on Sunday, September 24th at 2 PM at Water Works Park picnic area. Officers were elected and included the organizer Robert Darr as president, Roy Neilsen: Program Director, Harvey Hobbs: Membership and Publicity, Robert Armstrong: Finance Director. Cliff DeJong was Secretary and Darwin Anderson as Treasurer. Carroll Cram, Paul Couch, Ira McDonald and Roger Greever were elected to the board of directors.
A number of these charter members remained active throughout their lives. The club has remained active ever since.
The original meeting was a great success with more than 30 Model A's reported to be in attendance. In those early years there were many events where the Model A club members got together to enjoy the cars, the learning experiences and the social activities.
